Santas Village Amusement Park Jefferson New Hampshire Elphabet Game is fun and also provides some educational games for kids. Once you come into the park go to the right where the Old School House is located. There are usually a couple of ladies in teh school house and they will give you a necklace with a alphabet punch card for the Elphabet Game. AS you go throughout the park there are little elf statues, each with a name that starts with a different letter of the alphbet. Each elf has a punch for its corresponding letter so you slip the card in and pull the lever. The kids love having a focus..like a alphabet scavenger hunt! When you are leaving the park and have gotten all or most of your letters (the teachers are pretty flexible) you get to choos a Santa’s Village license plate for your bike or a Santa’s Village Key Chain. Santa’s Village Lodging at the Bartlett Inn is a great way to spend a summer family vacation in New Hampshire. We chose a hot day to travel 30ish miles to Jefferson New Hampshire. This is such a scenic beautiful drive through Crawford Notch and Beyond. If you take Route 3 and 116 you can go through Whitefield – an old New England Village with places to eat. We even stopped at the grocery store so we did not have to travel to North Conway when we got home to Bartlett! It was perfect!
The rides were great and the lines were not long at all..the longest we waited for anything was about 5 minutes. At the end of the day there was no line at the Bumper Cars and the kids rode them for 1 hour non stop! We all had a blast!
Santa’s village added a new entry facility at the front of the park with spacious clean bathrooms. This was perfect as we arrived and wanted to change into our bathing suits. The water park was refreshing and the roller coaster a thrill. We give Sant’s Village a big thumbs up! time in summer and it was perfect! We did the Family Friendly White Mountain Hike to Zealand Falls AMC Hut. It gave a great variety of terrain including forest, streams, bog/swamp, waterfalls and views all the way into the Pemigewassett Wilderness! This is approx 3 miles long and flat except for the last couple of hundred yards up tot he hut and the falls. You can also view the falls from below! We enjoyed out own packed lunch but some of the crew also ate at the hut. The food was good. Then the kids filled in a children’s naturalist booklet from the AMC and were sworn in as junior naturalists by an AMC huts man and received a patch! They were very proud of themselves! Mount Washington Auto Road located in Pinkham Notch, New Hampshire really is a Drive to the Sky! We took a ride up the Mount Washington Auto Road last week when the visibility was over 80 miles. It was beautiful. The whole family enjoyed the information CD that played in our car on the drive up. At the top we were able to get handicap parking and wheelchair my dad into the canteen to enjoy the views of the Presidential Mountain Range and a coffee. We were even able to use the service elevator to get downstairs to the museum in the lower lever of the Mt Washington Observatory. If travelers are agile they can also enjoy the Tip Top House Museum and take a picture on the summit of Mt Washington with the sign and elevation. Some of the alpine garden flowers we saw in the museum were also in bloom and tine but colorful to see. Hiking New Hampshire White Mountains offers endless options! We started the hike from the Willey House Site and Willey Pond (Free Parking) to the Webster Cliffs Trail to Mt Jackson; A challenging New Hampshire hike with great views! This is a great hike to do if you are able to plant a car. The initial climb is by switchback to the top of the Webster Cliffs Trail. You continue to climb as you cross the Crawford Notch from its East to West Side enjoying amazing views along the Webster Cliffs ridge trail. It was a little treacherous as the wind was blowing at 60 mph and you had to be careful near the cliff edges! I loved this trail because it is like an obstacle course exposing you to cliffs, high winds and then multiple rock scrambles up smooth rock faces to gain elevation. One tip is to only bring very agile pups with you and people too! Once you summit Mt Webster the trail gives you the option to carry on along the ridge to summit Mt Jackson NH. From the summit you can see almost 360 degrees with views of Crawford Notch, Mt Woods NH. We climbed to Mt Jackson and then with some investigation found the trail-head down Jackson Branch Trail was over a smooth rock face with the blaze 30 feet below to pick up a more obvious trail down a steep washed out stream bed. We hiked out via this trail to the bottom at Saco Lake near the AMC Highland Center. This is a fun but very challenging hike. The next time we do it we plan to camp along the way or in a AMC hut so that we can follow the ridge all the way across the White Mountains on the Crawford Path Trail to Mt Washington and beyond! from the Bartlett Inn. We enjoyed a 2.5 hour hike to the falls with the kids, dog and adults too! Hiking to WaterFalls is a fun thing to do with Children in the White Mountains. The rain from the night before and the sprinkle of the morning added to the flow of the falls! We often tell guests who feel put off by the weather that there is a bright side to a rainy day: It makes the Waterfalls flow very big! So if you have the right equipment…waterproof hiking boots and jacket and non cotton pants and it is not too cold out you will not melt in the rain and will get to see the New Hampshire Waterfalls at their best! We recommend the Bemis Brook Trail for the first part of the hike so you can enjoy the granite slabs with steps and cascading waterfalls along the way. The climb back to the Arethusa Trail is steep and slippery so be sure to hold onto firm roots and and rocks. It is only about 200 meters and then you rejoin the main trail. Kids love the boardwalks and the cool breeze and mist coming off the falls too! We ate lunch at the bottom of the falls and the sun came out to warm us! We took the Arethusa trail back and it returned much quicker then on the climb up. We saw a huge toad, a little peeper frog, garter snake, chipmunks and squirrels too.
