Sunday was a cool, windy and sunny day; perfect hiking weather! We chose to hike Black Cap Mountain in Intervale and North Conway, NH with some freindly Inn Guests, kids and the dogs too!. The trail head is located at the peak of Hurricane Mountain Road. There is a dirt parking lot. The hike is about 1.2 miles to the peak and well worth the medium effort. It is a continuous gentle uphill hike on a rocky trail. The top fo the mountain is bald and gives views almost 360 degrees around to the lakes in Maine, to Cranmore Mountain and Cathedral Ledge in North Conway and to top it off a spectacular view of Mt Washington in all its snow covered glory! Mount Washington Auto Road located in Pinkham Notch, New Hampshire really is a Drive to the Sky! We took a ride up the Mount Washington Auto Road last week when the visibility was over 80 miles. It was beautiful. The whole family enjoyed the information CD that played in our car on the drive up. At the top we were able to get handicap parking and wheelchair my dad into the canteen to enjoy the views of the Presidential Mountain Range and a coffee. We were even able to use the service elevator to get downstairs to the museum in the lower lever of the Mt Washington Observatory. If travelers are agile they can also enjoy the Tip Top House Museum and take a picture on the summit of Mt Washington with the sign and elevation. Some of the alpine garden flowers we saw in the museum were also in bloom and tine but colorful to see. Mark your calendar that the Mt Washington Auto Road in Gorham, NH will open early 3 times this summer of 2012 for a Sunrise drive to the Summit: 330 AM June 24th, 400 AM July 29th, 430 AM August 26th and just $25 for car and driver plus $8.00 additional passenger. Santa’s Village Lodging at the Bartlett Inn is a great way to spend a summer family vacation in New Hampshire. We chose a hot day to travel 30ish miles to Jefferson New Hampshire. This is such a scenic beautiful drive through Crawford Notch and Beyond. If you take Route 3 and 116 you can go through Whitefield – an old New England Village with places to eat. We even stopped at the grocery store so we did not have to travel to North Conway when we got home to Bartlett! It was perfect!
The rides were great and the lines were not long at all..the longest we waited for anything was about 5 minutes. At the end of the day there was no line at the Bumper Cars and the kids rode them for 1 hour non stop! We all had a blast!
Santa’s village added a new entry facility at the front of the park with spacious clean bathrooms. This was perfect as we arrived and wanted to change into our bathing suits. The water park was refreshing and the roller coaster a thrill. We give Sant’s Village a big thumbs up! Santas Village Amusement Park Jefferson New Hampshire Elphabet Game is fun and also provides some educational games for kids. Once you come into the park go to the right where the Old School House is located. There are usually a couple of ladies in teh school house and they will give you a necklace with a alphabet punch card for the Elphabet Game. AS you go throughout the park there are little elf statues, each with a name that starts with a different letter of the alphbet. Each elf has a punch for its corresponding letter so you slip the card in and pull the lever. The kids love having a focus..like a alphabet scavenger hunt! When you are leaving the park and have gotten all or most of your letters (the teachers are pretty flexible) you get to choos a Santa’s Village license plate for your bike or a Santa’s Village Key Chain.
